2010
JULY 2010: The Primary School in Aying, close to Munich, held a sporting day with the children running for a good cause and they ran for the elephants of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and the Mactau Primary School in Kenya. These amazing children managed to secure sponsoring for each kilometer they ran which amounted to more than EUR 7.300! The result is absolutely outstanding and we thank you from the Capricorn Foundation and the DSWT in Kenya for this spectacular event and result. The pictures and details of the donation to the Mactau Primary School will be posted here as soon as the equipment has been handed over.
APRIL 2010: The construction of the new house for the girl's orphanage "Menino Jesus" in Mocambique is progressing and coming along as planned. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has undertaken 11 field trips for the children in communities bordering the Tsavo National Parks and has also provided the first much needed desks to a primary school. Read up on all these developments and the other projects we support in our current Newsletter May 2010.
JANUARY 2010: Dagmar and Kimon Sammüller both celebrated their birthdays in January and donated on behalf of "Menino Jesus". Thank you especially to Kimon who turned 10 years and decided to forego a playstation in order to help the orphaned girls in Mocambique.
Sponsors have been very generous and enabled us to continue the support of 7 children at "Baphumelele" by paying for their school fees. Thank you especially to Toon Bouten, Uli Holtz, vibrio GmbH and many others.

Under the management of "Healing Homes" the project will be reopened and take up it's former purpose to care for children of the Otse area in the south of Botswana. DECEMBER 2008: We are very proud to announce that the Capricorn Foundation was elected to receive Euro 10.000 from the Active Help Kinderfond Stiftung - a foundation initiated by Siemens AG, Siemens Management Consulting (SMC). Thank you to Mr. Albrecht Wild and all the employees at SMC for this very generous donation. We have also received funding for 5 teenagers at the orphanage "Baphumelele" for the coming years to support them in their tertiary education (University, High School). Thank you to Michael Kausch from vibrio GmbH, Munich, Toon Bouten, Uli Holtz, and Dirk & Silvia Gallowsky.
OCTOBER 2008: We have taken up a new project called “Memory Books”. It is based on a film and the book by Christa Graf that portrays the lives of HIV positive mothers and their children in Uganda. In order to leave their children a memory of themselves as well as a history of their family and ancestry parents compose memory books. Hand written memoirs their children can read once they have passed away. A deeply moving film and book that touches our very inner most fears and emotions.
APRIL 2008: The kindergarden at "Casa da Familia" in a township to the North of Maputo, Mozambique was successfully completed and 32 children now attend daily.
