"Casa da Falília” is a kindergarden. It is located in a Bairro or Township north of the Capital Maputo. The area is home to approx. 8.000 families of which 200 live below the poverty level. There are many orphans who's parents have passed away due to HIV/AIDS. |

Mr. Geraldo a former soldier in the guerillia war and now a state employee and his wife Ms. Adelaide turned their former house into a kindergarden so that it can be used by the local children of the area. The area was allocated to victims of the large flood in 2000 and the houses were provided to the people worst affected. The family Geraldo was able to purchase this house and has transferred it to the local catholic community S. Agosthino that will be the intiator of the project. |

Mr. Geraldo is the prefect of the catholic community and the coordinator of the project. He is assisted by teachers and staff (cook and assistant). The kindergarden takes approx. 30 children between the ages of 3 to 5 years. Of these 25 contribute to the running costs of the kindergarden so that at least 5 children are able to join the |

kindergarden for free as their families are not in the position to contribute to the costs. The Capricorn Foundation financed the furnishing and equipment of the kindergarden in 2007.
The pictures show the house before and after being turned into a kindergarden, the children singing in the new courtyard and siesta on the bunk beads. |
